Mental Health at Work

Connecting Contractors to the information needed to improve Mental Health and Well-being

How mental health problems affect Contractors

Contracting has many great benefits, as a Contractor Community built by Contractors, we personally recognise the work-life transition from conventional employment to self-employment. However, the Contracting life can leave some vulnerable to workplace stress.

Contractors often lack support as they don’t typically have anyone to talk to about their professional concerns.

Managing workplace stress is much harder as a Contractor due to the high pressure and responsibility involved in running your own business when you often play every role within the business, with little to no support. The pressure impacts the bottom line between success and failure, which can result in burn-out amongst many other things, especially when you lack a positive community to support you during those times.

Whilst there are lots of things outside of our control – there are many things which we can do to make sure we’re working safely.

Mental Health at Work

Mental Health at Work is your first stop to improving Mental Health in the workplace:

“Whether you work with 10 people, 10,000 people or just yourself, paying attention to mental health in the workplace has never been more important. Mental Health at Work is here to help you find the information and resources you need.”

Resources are the heart of Mental Health at Work. Find documents, guides, tips, videos, courses, podcasts, templates and information from key organisations across the UK, all aimed at helping you get to grips with workplace mental health.

Use the start finding resources tool on the front page to help steer you in the right direction or try the search box at the top of every page. Find resources in whatever way works for you:

Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Their vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and that treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect.  As part of our commitment to our Networker Community and beyond our members, just like those within Mind are at the heart of everything that we do.

To start off our support, our Founder & CEO, Adam Shaw, will be challenging himself to complete the Nottingham Rat Race, on Saturday 5th of October 2019, in memory of his dear friend Will Dimmock.
